Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingDoes a slow-growing mango seedling necessarily make a dwarfing rootstock?
Slow nursery growth can reflect poor seed condition, restricted roots, pests, or unfavorable growing conditions. It does not show what a healthy scion will do on that rootstock in the field. Keep nursery quality selection separate from testing for useful vigor control. A candidate should first be healthy enough to evaluate, then compared with a standard rootstock under consistent management and through meaningful fruiting seasons.
