Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingHow should germination success be counted for polyembryonic mango seed?
Track the proportion of stones that produce seedlings separately from the number of usable plants obtained. One successful stone can contribute several seedlings, so plant count divided by stone count is not an ordinary germination percentage. Record rejected kernels, emergence dates, and losses after separation as distinct stages. This makes the record useful for planning nursery capacity and prevents a prolific stone from hiding widespread failure elsewhere in the batch.
