Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWill an unpalatable mango rootstock change the scion's fruit into its own type?

The rootstock does not replace the scion's genetic identity. Fruit on the scion belongs to that cultivar, although rootstock influences on tree performance can affect the growing conditions experienced by the fruit. A shoot arising below the union is different: it belongs to the rootstock and may eventually bear its own fruit. Identify the fruiting branch before concluding that a cultivar has changed.
