Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingIs excluding sodium the same as excluding chloride in mango rootstock testing?
No, sodium and chloride need separate attention when salinity is being evaluated. Mango seedling research found differences in exclusion of these ions, without one tested cultivar excelling at both. Characterize the irrigation water and select analytical measurements relevant to the actual exposure. A result described only as salt tolerance can hide which ion was measured and whether the test resembles the intended orchard.
