Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhy does a mango rootstock trial need a standard comparison?
A locally used rootstock provides a reference for deciding whether a candidate improves the existing system. Without it, an impressive tree may simply reflect favorable weather, soil, or management. Plant the comparison with the same scion and follow the same measurement schedule. Define success before reviewing results, including production, health, and management effort, so a convenient observation does not become the only criterion afterward.
