Mango FAQ

Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingHow should replacement trees be handled in a mango rootstock trial?

Record the original tree's loss and its probable cause before planting a replacement. Give the new tree an identifier and planting date that preserve its connection to the treatment without pretending it is the same age as its neighbors. Report survival and production with those differences visible. A replacement can preserve orchard function, but silently merging its measurements with the original tree weakens the experimental record.
