Parentage testing addresses which parents plausibly contributed to a seedling. It does not measure the seedling's flavor, bearing behavior, disease response, or handling performance. Use it to verify families and prioritize material, then retain the field and fruit assessments required by the breeding objective. Molecular work can improve efficiency while leaving the biological evaluation necessary; report the identity question and the performance question separately.
