Use a short identifier that belongs to your particular plant, such as a yard code followed by a number. Keep the cultivar name in its own field. The personal ID can then connect a pot label, acquisition note, and later observations even if the cultivar identification changes. Avoid making the identifier depend entirely on a name you have not yet verified.
