Acquisition records when the material entered your care; propagation records when the plant or graft was started. A nursery tree may have a substantial history before you buy it. Enter the dates separately and leave an unknown propagation date unknown. Otherwise, later comparisons can mistake time in your garden for the tree's age or the time since its graft was made.
