Getting StartedWhat is the difference between mango transpiration and soil evaporation?
Transpiration is water loss through the plant, chiefly as vapor from leaves. Soil evaporation is water loss directly from the soil surface. Together they contribute to evapotranspiration, a term used in irrigation information. Separating the pathways helps explain why a dry surface does not tell the whole story of water use and why changes in canopy or weather can change demand.
