Getting StartedHow do soil texture and soil structure describe different things at a mango site?
Texture describes the proportions of sand, silt, and clay. Structure describes how soil particles are arranged into aggregates and the spaces around them. Two soils with similar texture can behave differently if one has damaged structure. Keep the terms separate when discussing a site with an adviser, so a description such as sandy does not replace assessment of its actual condition.
