Growing & Tree CareHow can I measure mango shoot extension without counting the same growth twice?
Choose identifiable shoots, photograph or mark their starting positions without constricting them, and measure each from the same point on repeat visits. Use the visible flush boundaries to distinguish successive extensions. Keep the identity of shoots lost to pruning in the record rather than replacing them silently. This produces a clearer account of growth than measuring whichever new tip is longest each time the tree is inspected.
