Harvest weight measures fruit removed, whereas stored carbon also occurs in roots, trunk, branches, leaves, and soil. A productive season therefore does not directly measure the tree's standing carbon stock. For a carbon assessment, use an appropriate method that accounts for biomass and management history rather than converting fruit pounds into a storage claim. Keep pruning and residue handling visible because they change what remains on the site.
