Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Growing & Tree CareWhat is lion-tailing, and why should it be avoided on a mango?

Lion-tailing strips inner branches and foliage while leaving a tuft of growth near each limb's end. That concentrates canopy weight outward and creates a poor branch arrangement. It is different from removing selected interior conflicts. When discussing pruning, ask to retain an appropriate distribution of live growth along useful limbs rather than treating a completely bare interior as the desired finish.
