Interception describes how much incoming light the planting captures. Distribution describes where that light reaches within and among the trees. A dense crown can intercept strongly while leaving interior leaves deeply shaded. Evaluate both before changing pruning practices. Improving useful internal illumination can matter more than simply increasing the amount of leaf-covered ground visible from above.
