Maximum interception is not automatically maximum fruit production. Extra canopy can increase self-shading or divert growth into vegetation, and research relationships differ among planting systems and tree ages. Assess production together with internal illumination and canopy condition. Avoid adopting a single research light-interception percentage as a universal target for an orchard with different spacing, cultivars, or training.
