Growing & Tree CareCan developing mango fruit rely entirely on stored reserves after major leaf loss?
Stored carbohydrates can partly buffer reduced carbon supply, but research indicates that reserves do not fully replace ongoing canopy photosynthesis during fruit development. Assess surviving foliage and tree recovery before expecting the usual crop. A fruit that remains attached immediately after defoliation does not establish that the tree can support normal development throughout the remaining season.
