Some fiber or paper containers break down slowly enough to restrict root development. Identify the material and follow appropriate removal guidance while supporting the root ball. Biodegradable describes eventual breakdown, not necessarily a suitable rate in the planting soil. Do not leave a rigid container in place solely because the label suggests that it will disappear later.
