A pressure reversal can draw irrigation water or injected material toward the source. Appropriate backflow protection prevents that route of contamination and must suit the system and supply. Have a qualified designer specify and maintain it before injection begins. A fertilizer tank placed below the trees or a closed manual valve is not a substitute for a properly designed protection arrangement.
