Soil, Fertilizer & WateringWhy can two mango soils with the same pH require different amounts of lime?
Soil pH describes current acidity in solution, while buffering reflects the reserve acidity that resists change. Clay and organic matter can make one soil much more resistant than another. Use a laboratory lime-requirement assessment and an appropriate mango target. Matching a neighbor's application from the pH number alone can produce an inadequate correction or an excessive one.
