Centrifugal separators remove relatively heavy particles such as sand, but they are less effective against light organic material, algae, or very fine precipitates. Select the rest of the filtration train for the actual water source. Installing a separator alone should not be taken as complete water treatment, particularly where surface water carries suspended biological material.
