Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Soil, Fertilizer & WateringWhy must nitrate and nitrate-nitrogen be distinguished in mango water reports?

Nitrate includes the nitrogen and oxygen in the molecule; nitrate-nitrogen counts only its nitrogen. Multiply nitrate by about 0.226 to express it as nitrate-nitrogen, or multiply nitrate-nitrogen by about 4.43 for nitrate. Confirm the report's notation before crediting irrigation nitrogen. This converts reporting forms; it does not establish a mango fertilizer requirement or a safe drinking-water assessment.
