Soil, Fertilizer & WateringWhy can improved mango-soil infiltration fail to produce an equally large increase in stored usable water?
Water entry and water storage depend on different parts of the pore network. Large connected pores help water enter and drain, while smaller pores retain water that roots may subsequently extract. A treatment that improves entry need not increase that usable storage by the same proportion. Evaluate both runoff or ponding and the drying pattern in the root zone before reducing irrigation frequency.
