Initially dry soil can absorb water faster than soil that has become wetter during the test. The later rate also reflects restrictions within the profile. Record the test duration and changing intake rather than extrapolating the first few minutes indefinitely. A quick initial disappearance of water does not demonstrate that repeated irrigation or prolonged rainfall will drain equally quickly.
