Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Soil, Fertilizer & WateringCan a low nitrate concentration in mango-orchard drainage prove that very little nitrogen was lost?

Nitrogen loss depends on both concentration and the volume of water leaving the area over time. A dilute flow can still carry a substantial total load when discharge is large. Preserve flow and contributing-area information when evaluating losses. A single concentration measurement cannot establish the seasonal nitrogen balance or prove that an irrigation and fertilization program is efficient.
