Grafting & PropagationDoes grafting two mango cultivars together create a new hybrid cultivar?
Grafting joins living parts; it does not make their reproductive parentage equivalent to a cross. The scion remains the selected shoot material and the rootstock remains the plant supplying its roots. Record the combination as a grafted tree, not a newly bred cultivar. If your purpose is breeding, that requires a separate account of pollination, seed origin, and evaluation of the resulting seedlings.
