An opaque wrap conceals the joining surfaces, so a neat exterior cannot establish where the living edges meet. If documenting technique, photograph the fitted pieces before binding without prolonging their exposure. Then record how the alignment was maintained during wrapping. Later growth provides additional evidence of establishment, but a photograph of the finished tape alone cannot distinguish a good internal fit from a concealed gap.
