Grafting & PropagationIs the smallest possible mango explant always best for culture establishment?
Not necessarily. Smaller mango shoot explants have shown greater browning and poorer establishment than larger pieces in controlled comparisons. Explant size changes the balance between injury, retained tissue, and culture response. Follow a validated procedure for the material being tested, and measure survival and subsequent growth rather than assuming that minimizing the piece automatically improves cleanliness or regeneration.
