Etiolation changes shoots through restricted light exposure before collection. Mango research has investigated whether it reduces phenolic content and the browning response after excision. It is a source-material conditioning treatment, not proof that every culture should remain dark indefinitely. Evaluate the resulting explant survival under the complete method, and distinguish pretreatment of the donor from conditions used after culture initiation.
