Excessively hot wax can damage tender cambial tissue. If a validated grafting procedure calls for wax, use an appropriate material and application method rather than improvising with a hot household melt. Check the temperature-handling instructions before approaching living tissue. A continuous-looking seal is not sufficient evidence of good treatment if applying it injures the cells needed to form the union.
