Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Grafting & PropagationWhy is sugar included in many laboratory media used for mango regeneration?

Cultured tissues often cannot obtain enough carbon through photosynthesis under the vessel's light and gas conditions. Added sugar supplies an accessible carbon and energy source and also changes the medium's osmotic environment. It is a controlled part of a laboratory formulation, not evidence that sugar should be added to a nursery mango's irrigation water or ordinary rooting mix.
