Yes. Contamination is not limited to conspicuous fungal growth and can have less obvious appearances. Follow a suitable laboratory inspection or testing procedure and retain suspect cultures separately. Do not open questionable vessels in a clean transfer area to smell them, or conclude that normal-looking shoots establish freedom from all contaminants.
