Flowering & PollinationHow do I distinguish a mango flower's ovary from its pollen-producing anther?
The pollen-producing anther belongs to a stamen, while the ovary is part of the pistil associated with the style and stigma. These structures answer different questions when flowers are dissected. Use a magnified, labeled reference and preserve photographs of uncertain samples. Counting a conspicuous anther is not a valid way to classify a flower as having a functional female structure.
