Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Flowering & PollinationHow is the ovule different from the ovary in a mango flower?

The ovary is the enclosing female structure that can develop into the fruit, while the ovule contains the tissues involved in forming the seed. They are different anatomical levels. Keep them distinct when reading reproductive reports, because a pollen tube entering the ovary has not necessarily reached the ovule or completed fertilization.
