Flowering & PollinationHow do pedicel and rachis differ in a mango panicle description?
A pedicel is an individual flower stalk, while the rachis is the main axis of the inflorescence. Branches and individual flowers occupy different levels of that structure. Recording the correct level helps localize breakage or blight and prevents a count of damaged flower stalks from being reported as the same number of damaged whole panicles.
