Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestCan a few soft mangoes left on the tree serve as the only controls for an early-picking trial?
They provide useful observations but do not isolate picking date by themselves. Fruit that remain attached experience a different history and may also be a different flowering group. Record those differences and compare several identified fruit from each approach. Include fall losses and unusable tissue when judging the tree-held group, so the comparison measures usable quality rather than only the nicest surviving mango.
