Panicle emergence, open bloom, and fruit set are different events. A count of days after flowering is ambiguous if observers chose different starting stages. Record the event used and retain it consistently for each flowering group. A local forecast based on a defined stage should be compared with a matching field observation, or the apparent error may come from the starting date rather than fruit development.
