Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestDoes a higher dry matter percentage mean a mango contains more total solids per fruit?

The percentage describes the proportion of solids in the tested tissue, not the total solids in an entire fruit. A smaller sample can have a higher percentage while containing less material overall. Keep concentration and total amount separate when studying fruit development. Likewise, do not multiply a flesh-sample percentage by whole-fruit weight without accounting for what was sampled and whether that sample represents the whole fruit.
