State how long the trial ran and how many fruit had not yet reached the chosen endpoint. Those fruit have an unfinished observation, not a demonstrated ripening time equal to the trial's last day. Keep them distinct from fruit that deteriorated without acceptable ripening. If a mean ripening time is reported only for completed fruit, explain that exclusion so readers do not mistake it for the whole group's result.
