Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestCan prolonged wetness damage mango skin before a visible split develops?
Experimental work has shown that surface moisture can increase microscopic cuticle cracking and water-vapor permeability in mango peel. An apparently unbroken surface therefore does not describe every change in the skin barrier. Record prolonged fruit wetness when investigating later surface problems or water loss. These findings support examining wetness exposure; they do not establish one universal wetting duration at which every mango becomes damaged.
