They describe different mechanical responses. Acoustic methods assess the fruit's vibration behavior, while a puncture test measures resistance to a probe entering tissue. Mango research has found different prediction performance for these endpoints. Keep the method and units with every result, and compare methods on the same representative population before changing a sorting specification. Similar-looking numbers do not establish an equivalent firmness scale.
