Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestWhy should a fruit-cover trial measure the mango surface rather than rely only on the orchard air temperature?

The light and temperature experienced by the peel depend on exposure and can differ across the same fruit. Research has documented different physiological responses on exposed and shaded mango surfaces. Include fruit-surface observations when evaluating covers or sunburn protection, and compare equivalent positions. A weather-station reading alone cannot show whether a cover actually reduced the heat experienced by the protected skin.
