Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestWhy might removing some young mangoes fail to produce an equivalent reduction in final fruit count?

The remaining fruit may be retained more successfully after competition is reduced, so natural shedding can partly compensate for manual removal. Crop-load research has documented this response. Recount the treated trees through the natural-drop period and evaluate the final harvested crop rather than assuming the removal percentage remains fixed. That response is a reason to measure a thinning treatment, not a recommendation to keep removing fruit repeatedly without a defined objective.
