Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestCan a mango stone harden while the surrounding flesh is still developing?

The stone and edible flesh are different tissues with different developmental changes. Anatomical studies have observed endocarp hardening while fruit growth and tissue enlargement continue toward maturity. A hard stone therefore should not be used alone to release a harvest lot. Record it as a developmental observation and retain the established external, flesh, and compositional checks appropriate to the fruit.
