Separation at the natural abscission zone and tearing elsewhere along the stalk are different mechanical events. Mango fruitlet research records that location alongside the pulling force. Keep both observations if comparing treatments or investigating unusual drop. A force value without the break location can confuse weakening of the separation zone with failure of another part of the stalk, leading to an incorrect interpretation of the fruit's retention behavior.
