Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestCan mangoes be damaged by sustained pressure even if no fruit is dropped?

Fruit at the bottom of a deep or overfilled container bears a continuing load from above. Compression is a different mechanical exposure from a brief impact, and resistance changes with fruit condition and ripeness. Review fill depth and load-bearing packaging when damage concentrates at the bottom. Do not convert a laboratory compression result into a universal allowable bin depth for all mangoes.
