Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestCan one caliper diameter describe the volume growth of an irregularly shaped mango?
Not reliably. Length, width, and thickness can change differently, and a mango is not a perfect sphere. Specify the measurement axes and use a validated relationship if estimating volume from dimensions. A diameter increase alone does not establish an equivalent increase in whole-fruit volume or weight. Gentle, repeatable measurements help avoid squeezing developing fruit while still preserving the limits of the estimate.
