An active system introduces a selected gas mixture during sealing, while a passive system lets respiration and package gas exchange establish the atmosphere over time. That waiting period matters for highly perishable cut fruit. Ask the packaging designer which approach is intended and how it is verified. Gas flushing and film selection must work together; introducing a gas mixture does not remove the need for a suitable package.
