These describe different aspects of color. Hue distinguishes color direction, such as yellow versus orange; chroma describes saturation or intensity; lightness describes how light or dark the sample appears. Record the actual metric when comparing instrumental color results. A darker sample has not necessarily moved farther toward orange, and a stronger color intensity should not be substituted for a measured change in hue.
