Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersHow can I distinguish a mango leaf mine, gall, and surface chewing?

A mine is a feeding track within the leaf, a gall is a localized swelling of tissue, and surface chewing removes tissue from an edge or blade. Photograph the leaf from above and in profile, and hold it toward light to help reveal an internal track. Record openings without assuming they identify an insect. Preserve fresh affected leaves for assessment, because browning alone can hide the structural differences that help distinguish these injuries from a leaf disease.
